In a heart-wrenching incident on November 2023, a Tunisian community member fell victim to a senseless act of violence in Virginia. The victim, who is a student, was tragically shot in the head during an incident on Richmond Highway, VA.
In the wake of this devastating event, the Tunisian American Association (TAA) swiftly mobilized to provide support to the victim and his family. Through a fundraising campaign that garnered overwhelming support from the Tunisian community, the TAA raised close to $8000 to assist the victim with medical expenses, housing, and legal matters.
Additionally, the TAA offered invaluable guidance and advice to the victim throughout his recovery process. From navigating medical support to providing assistance with housing arrangements and legal proceedings, the TAA remained steadfast in its commitment to helping one of its own in a time of dire need.
The outpouring of generosity and solidarity from the Tunisian community has been truly remarkable, and the TAA extends its heartfelt gratitude to all those who donated and offered their prayers and support.
We are pleased to report that the student, despite the challenges he has faced, is now in a stable condition and awaiting cosmetic surgery for the eye he lost in the shooting.
